What are terpene botanicals?

Terpenes are the biomolecules in plants responsible for the way plants smell, taste, and look — and help protect plants against predators and attract pollinators. Just as terpenes have effects on plants and animals in nature, so too do they affect the human body. The terpene profile of a plant (which combinations of among 30,000+ known terpenes) not only determines how it smells and tastes, but also how it will make you feel, mentally and physically. Different terpenes have been shown to have varying effects across all of the human body’s major systems, which is why terpenes are core to many Zolt formulations.

Why do some Zolt varieties include fungi?

Some Zolt varieties contain fungi, specifically mushrooms (fungi’s fruiting bodies), which work on the human mind and body in a range of unique ways. For example, Lion’s Mane (adaptogen and antioxidant) boosts the immune system, promotes mood stability, reduces inflammation, and promotes nervous system health. Reishi is known as the “Mushroom of Immortality” helps regulate the immune system, helps the body adapt to physical and mental stressors, and alleviates stress and fatigue. Cordyceps is known to improve stamina and boost overall health. Zolt uses these fungi and others to help you feel your best every day.

What are In hybrid, indica, and sativa terpene complex types?

Zolt’s indica terpene complex is A 22-terpene blend that approximates the terpene profile of indica strains of cannabis. The predominant trait of the indica profile is its relaxing quality, though the bioactivity of this profile offers a wide range of functional benefits.

The sativa terpene complex Zolt uses in its hemp-free products is a 17-terpene blend that replicates the terpene profile of sativa strains of cannabis. While the sativa profile has extensive benefits across many areas, its predominant trait is its energizing quality.

As its name suggests, the hybrid terpene complex is a bit of a cross between the indica and sativa complexes. This 25-terpene blend is known for being balanced in terms of its energy, being neither sleep-inducing nor particularly energizing.

Do plant terpenes have mood-enhancing properties?

Yes, many terpenes have mood-enhancing, anti-anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) properties. Zolt’s mood-boosting terpenes include beta caryophyllene, borneol, linalool, neolidol, phytol, pulegon, and terpineol.

How do you source the fungi you use in your formulations?

Zolt only uses fungi that are 100% organic, extracted from the mushroom (fruiting body), verified for beta-glucans (which is what you want), and contain no grain fillers. Above all, we demand honesty and full transparency in our supply chain so that you get only the highest quality ingredients.

What does Zolt mean?

Zolt is the action of bringing your body into balance.

I’ve never tried Zolt before. How should I get started?

If you have no specific mental and physical performance goals, a good place to start is with Balance or Even. These formulations can be used at any time of day, though it’s easiest to work into your routine if you prepare and drink it first thing in the morning. Try to use it consistently for at least a week and keep track of your overall performance and sense of well-being. After a week, try adding a second serving of Zolt in the afternoon or evening. You’ll begin to get a sense of how Zolt works into your routine and how its benefits are playing out in your day-to-day life.

If you feel comfortable starting a routine that also targets just-right energy regulation, consider using Rise (or Peak, Dial-Up or Well) in the morning and Dreamy at night, or Rise in the morning and either Peak, Dial-Up, or Well during the day. As noted before, it’s helpful to keep track of how you’re feeling each day, then look back at your notes after a week or two to get a sense of how Zolt is helping you raise your baseline performance. Every day is a new day with a new set of highs and lows. Zolt won’t eliminate life’s challenges, but our products are designed to help make it easier for you to rise to those challenges, both mentally and physically!

How does Zolt source its ingredients?

To put it simply: painstakingly. We’re all about the good stuff. It’s not quite as simple as “you are what you eat” (and drink)… but it kinda is. At Zolt, we put a lot of effort into sourcing every ingredient to ensure that we’re using only the best. For starters, we source our hemp exclusively from US hemp farms who exclusively cultivate hemp for oil extraction — this ensures not only the quality of our powders, but their consistency as well. Our ashwagandha is exclusively KSM 66, the world’s premier ashwagandha extract, which is known for being the highest concentration as well as maximally bioavailable full-spectrum root extract. We apply these incredibly high standards to our inactive ingredients as well. For instance, we source our citric acid from Belgium because we insist on using natural citric acid (from actual citrus) of the highest grade — and, not to gross you out, but most commercially available citric acid is derived from mold grown in a lab. We’re not snobs, but we do have high standards for what we put into our own bodies. And we know you do too.

What’s the difference between CBD isolate and full-spectrum hemp?

You may be wondering: Hemp vs CBD. Hemp CBD Isolate products are water-soluble (and maximally bioavailable) and contain only the cannabinoid Cannabidiol (CBD). Full-Spectrum Hemp products (marked + after the product name) contain water-soluble hemp with its full range of 113 cannabinoids, which includes a trace level of THC.

Can I build up a tolerance to Zolt?

No, you cannot.

Where is Zolt made?

Zolt is made in the United States. We work with only the best partners to create and make Zolt, including our American hemp farmers. Zolt is manufactured in a cGMP facility that is registered with the FDA, Natural Products Association (NPA), Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Quality Assurance International (QAI), Star-K Kosher and Kosher Dairy.

Why does third-party testing matter?

There are a lot of CBD isolate and hemp products available today, and most of them are not tested for purity or efficacy. Ours are, but you don’t have to take our word for it. We use a third-party testing service so you know for sure that what we say is in our products is actually in our products.

Will Zolt get me high?

No. Not even with Zolt’s hemp CBD Isolate products (which contain zero THC) or Full-Spectrum Hemp products (which contain 0.3% or less THC). All hemp products’ cannabinoid levels are verified through third-party testing of each product batch and documented in a Certificate of Analysis (CoA). Track any product batch to view its CoA.

What is bioavailability and why should I care about it?

Great question, and it’s one that not enough people think to ask. When we talk about bioavailability we mean how much of any given bioactive can actually be used by your body.

For instance, there are many different formats for ingesting hemp — tinctures, gummies, capsules, etc. — but there’s little consistency in terms of how much of the plant’s biomolecules your body is actually getting when you use each of those.

Let’s say you ingest 20mg of CBD isolate. How much of that is your body going to use, and how much of it is going to waste? With other formats, your body is getting less than half of that. With Zolt, your body is tapping into almost all of it –its biomolecules are teensy and optimized for water-solubility and bioavailability. Check it out!

Why does the mixie stick powder sometimes settle at the bottom of my glass?

Many Zolt products contain organic adaptogens, along with the minerals and fibers from the adaptogens’ plants of origin (please reference ingredients, as these vary by product). The minerals and fiber weigh more than water, so they sometimes settle to the bottom of the glass — so mix with gusto! In particular, any hemp or CBD isolate in Zolt is immediately dissolved in water, and disperses evenly throughout. That stuff at the bottom of your glass is not hemp, we assure you.

What is the Farm Bill?

In 2018, the US government enacted the Farm Bill, which established a legal distinction between hemp and marijuana and federally legalized hemp cultivation and sales. The Farm Bill defines hemp as containing not more than 0.3% of THC, the cannabinoid commonly known for producing a “high”. While hemp had long been an agricultural staple, it was essentially made illegal through the 1937 Marihuana Tax Act, then formally banned by the Controlled Substances Act of 1970.

Is CBD legal?

Yes! Per the 2018 Farm Bill, CBD is completely legal, as is hemp in general. Hemp is distinguished by its low THC content (not to exceed 0.3% THC), which is the compound in cannabis known for offering its users a “high.”

How is CBD different from THC?

On a molecular level, the two cannabinoids are very similar. However, the ways they interact with the endocannabinoid system of the human body are quite different. THC causes a euphoria and a high. CBD works more indirectly, does not cause the high, and is non-intoxicating.

How much Zolt should I take?

Hemp-free
The correct dosage and frequency varies from person to person, as results across use-levels vary by individual. However, we recommend beginning your regimen by taking Zolt once or twice daily, then scaling up as needed. As always, it’s a good idea to consult your doctor before beginning any new health or wellness routine.

Each of our single-serve mixie sticks contain 20mg of water-soluble Hemp CBD Isolate / Hemp Extract Isolate or Full-Spectrum Hemp / Hemp Extract Full-Spectrum. The correct dosage and frequency varies from person to person, as results across use-levels vary by individual.

Several recent publications suggest dosing between 60-280mg per day. We are confident that a regimen of up to 160mg per day would be positive for most people, though much lower levels are effective for the majority of users. As always, Zolt recommends consulting with your physician before beginning a hemp regimen.

Should I consult my doctor before using Zolt?

Consult your doctor before beginning any new health or wellness routine. If you plan to begin a regimen of hemp products and are taking other medications, doing so is especially important. Hemp products can interact with some medications, such as blood thinners, chemotherapy drugs, among others.

How should I take Zolt?

We suggest you use our single-serve mixie sticks, which are totally portable and mix with water (hot or cold) or any other beverage. This water-soluble format is not only hydrating and refreshing, it’s really effective, too — your body absorbs the mixie’s bioactives quickly and easily, and your body can fully harness its benefits.

Why would should I choose Zolt’s ingestible CBD or hemp products over other formats, like tinctures or vapes?

Vaping is dangerous and often toxic, damaging the lungs, according to research.
Tinctures are not easy to use, unpalatable, and often contain impurities which immediately enter your bloodstream. Tinctures also have a limited shelf-life of 3 months when not refrigerated.
Edibles need to be stored properly, as they’re not usually shelf-stable — they can turn rancid or grow mold, for instance. Independent reports show considerable product inconsistency of dosing across edibles, sometimes containing no CBD at all, or CBD at levels far higher than listed on the label.

Does CBD/hemp have any potential side effects?

We recommend speaking with your doctor about taking full-spectrum hemp or CBD isolate, especially if you’re on a blood thinner or any other medication, because hemp can increase bloodstream medication levels in the same way that grapefruit does.

Are hemp products safe?

Generally speaking, yes, hemp and CBD isolate products are safe; however, the safety of these products depends on the quality of the hemp, quality of additional ingredients, the manufacturing processes and testing protocols to ensure quality. Zolt ensures quality by sourcing from the finest partners, having each of our products tested by a third-party lab and providing a detailed Certificate of Analysis (CoA) for every batch.

Are Zolt’s hemp products safe?

Yes. Every step of our production process, beginning with our hemp farmers through manufacturing and then to testing by third-party labs, ensures the purity, quality, and safety of our products. We use supercritical carbon dioxide extraction to derive hemp oils from the plant, the cleanest and most effective method (no harmful chemicals are used). The hemp oil extracted is then emulsified (using Zolt’s super-safe, proprietary technology), which reduces the size of the full-spectrum hemp and CBD isolate biomolecules so that they can more easily be absorbed by the body. The finished product is then sent out to a third-party lab for analysis to ensure purity, and each batch’s test results are included in a Certificate of Analysis, available on our website and by contacting [email protected].

Do hemp products show up on a drug test?

Hemp CBD Isolate / Hemp Extract Isolate products contain only the cannabinoid Cannabidiol (CBD), and do not contain THC, the cannabinoid labs look for in a drug test panel. Full-Spectrum Hemp / Hemp Extract Full-Spectrum products include the full range of 113 cannabinoids found in the hemp plant, which includes a trace level of THC (0.3% or less). Depending on the drug test’s sensitivity and your level of Full-Spectrum Hemp consumption, it’s possible to get a positive result for THC. If drug testing that includes marijuana is required by your employer, consider using Hemp CBD Isolate / Hemp Extract Isolate products instead.

Can you take hemp if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding?

The FDA advises against taking any form of hemp products while pregnant or lactating, as no conclusive research around safety has been performed for this population.

Are Hemp CBD Isolate or Full-Spectrum Hemp the same thing as recreational marijuana?

Hemp CBD Isolate / Hemp Extract Isolate or Full-Spectrum Hemp / Hemp Extract Full-Spectrum are not marijuana. Not even close. CBD is cannabidiol, one of hemp’s 113 cannabinoids. Full-Spectrum Hemp products include the full range of cannabinoids, including a trace level (less than 0.3%, per the 2018 Farm Bill) of THC, Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol. THC is the dominant cannabinoid in marijuana, and is the primary source of its “high.”

Where can you purchase hemp products?

Depending upon your state of residence, CBD and hemp products can be purchased in a variety of places, including pharmacies, convenience stores, health food stores, yoga studios, and supermarkets, among others.

So, how is Zolt’s CBD made?

While the exact details of our process are a trade secret, here’s what we can tell you: To make Zolt, we use a proprietary formula and novel techniques, beginning with emulsifying our hemp oil into a batter, then atomizing it (spraying as a very fine mist) into a large, high-tech dryer to create a powder. Finally, we make the hemp’s herbaceous taste undetectable before adding our organic adaptogens and sweeteners, and blend it all together to become the finished, packaged product: Zolt mixie sticks.

Can you use hemp in all 50 states?
